Former President Donald Trump criticized Fox News for having too many guests who are negative about his record in office.
The Republican presidential nominee, who is a long-time Fox News viewer and guest, said the channel’s daytime hosts were unable to effectively counter Trump’s critics, allowing them to “get away with murder.”
Taking to social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump wrote: “The problem with Fox News is that every time they put on someone who is positive and touting all of the good things I have done for the Country, they always feel it necessary to follow up with a really negative voice, often people who are storytellers and willing to outright lie.
“The daytime anchors are no match for these lunatics, and they get away with absolute murder. The net result is NOTHINGNESS, so what’s the purpose in watching?”
Newsweek contacted Fox News for a response to Trump’s comments.
Earlier that day, Fox News had invited Ian Sams, a senior adviser to the Kamala Harris campaign, to contribute to the Special Report with Bret Baier segment, which aired shortly before Trump made his post.
The former first lady, Melania Trump, also appeared on Fox News that day, during the 5 p.m. segment The Five, which features hosts Dana Perino, Greg Gutfeld, Jesse Watters and Judge Jeanine Pirro.
Other Fox News daytime anchors include Martha MacCallum, Sandra Smith, John Roberts, Harris Faulkner, Emily Compagno and Kayleigh McEnany, who collectively cover Fox’s daily schedule from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The complaints come after Fox News host Laura Ingraham interviewed the former president on her primetime segment The Ingraham Angle on October 5, during which Trump faced pushback over his comments on Harris’ response to Hurricane Helene.
“She shouldn’t be at fundraisers. She’s at fundraisers, and her teleprompter went off, and she didn’t do well with the teleprompter off,” Trump said.
“It happens to me a lot. When the teleprompter goes off, you have to be able to do it. She didn’t get through it. But she shouldn’t be there anyway. She should be—I would say that North Carolina is bad, is so bad.”
Ingraham responded: “She was there today for three hours, I believe,” and asked Trump if he was politicizing the hurricane.
